About this development
R190 million redevelopment of the Rob Roy Hotel complex in Botha’s Hill outside Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal into the Rob Roy Lifestyle Retirement Village project. The hotel will undergo extensive upgrading and expansion to accommodate 87 luxury retirement apartments with a further 45 cottages to be built around the hotel building. There will be a fully equipped gymnasium with heated indoor pool and spa bath as well as a 120 seat auditorium with stage and screen facilities. Of Rob Roy’s 87 apartments, 36 are in the Rob Roy main building and the balance in 2 new wings, the Mary Campbell Wing and the Donald Glas. The 45 cottages will average around 170m² in size and all have 2 bedrooms. The perimeter is surrounded by brick and palisade walls topped with electric fencing. Access to the site will be via a single access control point manned 24 hours a day. The West cottages and Donald Glas Wing will be part of Phase 2, except for the Care Centre which will form part of phase 1.
