Project overview
About this development
Bongani Minerals is investigating a deposit of tungsten and molybdenum near Piketberg in the Western Cape. The project, dubbed, the Riviera Tungsten Project has an estimated reserve of 10,86 million tons with an average grade of between 0,28% and 0,31% of tungsten oxide and is believed to be the sixth-largest tungsten deposit in the world. The prospect which would require a capital expenditure of R1.3 billion to develop, is now more economically viable than it was when first studies were done in the 1980s. At full production, the mine would product 700 000 tons of tungsten oxide a year.
