About this development
Anglo Platinum (Angloplat) hopes to build the Richmond dam to acquire the water it says its new multibillion-rand platinum-mining projects need. The construction of a dam on the Klein Dewars river on the farm Richmond 370 KT. The dam will store 13,5-million cubic metres of water and has a dam wall height of 31 m. The dam reservoir will cover an area of 1,52 km and the water will push back on about 0,3 km² of the farm St George 2 JT. The realignment of the Richmond-St George road to cross over the dam embankment and join the original alignment of the road upstream from the dam; and the construction of a pump station at the dam embankment in order to pump the water to the Angloplat concentrator plant located on the farm Helena 6 JT. Project value : R90 million.
