About this development
Development of a fusion plant in KwaZulu-Natal. The proposed site is located within the Isithebe Industrial Estate, which is approximately midway between Durban and Richards Bay and 8km North of the town of Mandini. RHI propose developing a fusion plant in KwaZulu-Natal, which will use an electric arc furnace to melt/fuse raw materials, such as chromium ore and magnesite, to produce various secondary materials used in the manufacture of refractory products. The building will consist of an 8m high office block built of brick, a 30m high structural steel building which will house the crushing, storage, weighing and mixing section. A structural steel roofing structure will house the chromitite rock stockpile. A buried reservoir will be used to collect storm water runoff for use in the process.
