About this development
Development of a renewable energy production and manufacturing cluster at a proposed IDZ programme at Saldanha Bay, in the Western Cape. A R15 billion energy project for Saldanha Bay municipality to power its planned industrial hub and a rare metals industry complex. The power plant proposed for the West Coast town will entail a mixture of gas and renewable energy such as solar, wind and biomass. It is expected to deliver just over one gigawatt of electricity (1 000 megawatts or MW), enough energy to supply between 750 000 and a million houses.
