About this development
Development of a one-million-ton-a-year grinding plant in the Randfontein / Mogale City area for Lafarge South Africa, to meet the increased demand for cement in the Gauteng area. The operation will be approximately 20 hectares in extent. Two cement storage silos will also be developed for the storage of the final product. The construction of the new plant forms part of Lafarge's capacity expansion project and the Randfontein plant will subsequently be ready to receive the first clinker from the new clinker production line at the existing Lichtenburg Cement Works in January 2009. Estimated project value: R1.2 billion for the whole Project Rainbow Expansion. R450 million for the Randfontein plant.
