Project Mafutha, Limpopo

Construction of a second coal-to-liquids (CTL) plant for Sasol, which could cost up to $6 billion (R56 billion) over five years to build. Sasol had selected a coalfield in the western part of the Limpopo province as part of its prefeasibility study into the proposed Mafutha coal-to-liquids (CTL) project. The project, which Sasol has dubbed Project Mafutha, would add an additional 80 000 bbl/d to the refining capacity of Sasol.
