PPC Ntshafatso (Hercules) Expansion Project

The upgrade and expansion of a significant state-of-the-art cement milling facility. A new 1 million ton per annum vertical roller mill, together with associated material handling and storage infrastructure is to be constructed in the inland region for PPC's Hercules plant in Pretoria. One third of the new mill capacity will allow for the replacement of two older, less efficient mills. A further one third of the new capacity will be utilised to mill output from the Jupiter kiln. Additionally, by utilising this state-of-the-art technology, current inland cement capacity will be increased by a further 300 000 tons per annum through the manufacture of increased volumes of extended cements from existing capacity. Dubbed the Ntshafatso project. Estimated project value : R700 million.
