About this development
Pilanesberg Platinum Mines is an existing opencast mining operation near the Pilanesberg National Park. In addition to the current platinum mining operation, PPM proposes to mine chrome seams and establish support infrastructure related to the chrome mining operation within the existing mining area. The chrome project will include the establishment of open cast pits, temporary stockpiles, processing plant, haul roads, explosives magazine, contractors camp and waste storage areas for general and hazardous waste and waste tyres. The existing platinum mine and proposed chrome mining area are located to the north and west of the Pilansberg National Park, on the farms Witfontein 136 JP and Tuschenkomst 135 JP in the Moses Kotane Local Municipality of the Bojanala district in the North West Province.
