About this development
Construction of the Pesi (Nyahururu) Dam which is one of Kenya Vision 2030 development projects. The project targets to supply potable and adequate water by gravity to areas of Nyandarua County that have been experiencing acute water shortage. The dam is located 37km to the south east of Nyahururu Town and across Pesi River and targets to impound 16.000.000nV of water. This dam project will consist of 45m high earthfill dam with clay core embankment & associated works, Intake tower, water treatment works of 75,000mVday capacity and located 500m downstream of the dam, clear water tank of 3 000ms capacity, clear water transmission steel/HDPE pipeline. Areas of Laikipia County to be supplied with water include: Nyahururu Township and its environs, Marmanet and Wiyumiririe Towns. Areas of Nyandarua County to be supplied with water include: Kahutha, Mathingira, Leshau, Kiriita Locations, Ol Joro Orok and Ol Kalou Townships and areas along the transmission pipelines.
