About this development
Development of the Ashanti II Project – Obotan Mine in Ghana, just North West of Accra, Southern Region. This project is situated between the Ashanti and Bibiani Gold Belts in the lesser known Asankrangwa Gold Belt. It covers an area of 89km² and includes the Abirem and Abore concessions, which cover the former Obotan Mine operations. This area has been identified with major deformation zones and cross structures that are spatially related to the Obuasi mine. The project is believed to contain between one to two million ounces gold grading from 3g/t to 6g/t below the Nkran pit based on previous deep drilling to a depth of 400m. Pre-production capital is estimated at $296.6 million.
