Construction of section 1 of a new raw water pipeline to Nsezi Water Treatment Works in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The Mhlathuze weir is located at -28.801139, 31.955528. Access is off the P106 to Esikhawini, 2.5km south from the John Ross highway before the bridge over the Mhlathuze River. The section 1 works area stretches for approximately 4km from the Mhlathuze weir northwards to the off-take to Lake Nsezi, known locally as the “shooting range”. The scope of works includes the construction of a 1 500mm diameter continuously welded mild steel pipeline to convey raw water from the existing Mhlathuze River weir pump station to the off-take to Lake Nsezi, where the new pipeline will connect to the existing 1 200mm diameter raw water pipeline to Nsezi WTW.
