About this development
The North-South Corridor Project will seek to establish an efficient transport network and reduce blockages along main trading routes through eight African countries: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Botswana and Mozambique. In total over 4000km of roads and 600 km of railways will be upgraded in the North-South Corridor. Some $1.2 billion of funding was committed by the Development partners (SADC, COMESA & the EAC) for the upgrading of the infrastructure. This includes $600 from the World Bank. This covers the upgrading of roads in Zambia. Estimated project value for this portion in Zambia:US$2 million.
