Relocation of the KwaZulu-Natal Museum from 237 Jabu Ndlovu Street to 96 Jabu Ndlovu Road in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. Project cost is estimated at R632 million. The scope of works will include: demolition of parts of the existing old St Anne’s Hospital building; construction of a museum building to hold displays and exhibitions; construction of a restaurant, museum shop, etc.; construction of an outside exhibitions/display area; conversion of the remaining buildings into offices and collections handling facilities; upgrade and conversion of the existing boiler house into a proper wet collections’ facility and storeroom; construction of staff and public parking, including bus parking; and an upgrade and conversion of the existing storage facility into a museum workshop space.
