About this development

Construction of phase II for a new chamber building for the Parliament in Uganda. The site is located on plot no. 13 - 15 Sir Apollo Kwagwa Road in Kampala. The works consists of: (A) - Proposed new chamber building: construction of a reinforced concrete storeyed building with a total floor area of 22 450m² comprising of 8 levels and overall height is about 32m as follows: Basement floor consisting of archives services and members library; Lower ground floor: public entrance, kitchen and dining, member's lounge and committee rooms; Upper ground floor: 500 member capacity chamber and retiring rooms for the speaker & deputy speaker; First Floor: Press lounge and translator booths; Second Floor: Public, press and VIP galleries; Third and Fourth Floors: Offices, committee rooms and archives; Services Floor: The structure of the building is part reinforced concrete and steel framed structure with concrete floors, retaining walls, steel columns, steel girders, reinforced concrete and solid concrete block walls, associated electro-mechanical Installation works and associated external works and landscaping. The facade is finished with an aluminium framed sun shading lattice and blast resistant curtain walling. (B) Proposed modification of the existing chamber building: The works consist of modification of the existing chamber building including demolitions of existing walls and reconstruction of new ones, providing walkways, construction of new staircase, new floor and wall finishes and all the associated electrical and mechanical works. The approximate floor area is 4 665m². (C) Proposed Hall of Honour and covered walkway: The works consist of demolishing existing concrete paving slabs and steps, construction of new concrete ramps and steps, new concrete block walls, roof over walkway, internal and external finishes planters, aluminium cladding to water tower, external Works and all the associated electrical and mechanical works.
