Mooi-Mgeni Transfer Scheme

Construction of a dam about 2km South of Rosetta along the Mooi River. Rosetta is situated between Nottingham Road and Mooi River in KwaZulu-Natal. When full the dam will span approximately 10.3 square kilometres. The water will benefit three municipalities, namely the eThekwini metropolitan municipalities, the uMgungundlovu local municipality and the Msunduzi local municipality. The MMTS-2 project comprises: *The construction of the Spring Grove Dam on the Mooi River upstream of the existing Mearns Weir. * A fish barrier weir on the Mooi River upstream of the proposed dam. * A pumping station on the Spring Grove dam. * A bulk transfer pipeline to the Mgeni River catchment. The project will yield 60 million cubic metres a year of water for supply. This forms part of the Mooi Mgeni Transfer Scheme Phase 2 (MMTS-2).
