Moamba-Major Dam, Maputo, Mozambique

Construction of a $300m Moamba-Major dam in Maputo province, in Mozambique, which would provide drinking water for residents. The dam is to be built at a site 70km south of Cahora Bassa. Only about 40 percent of Mozambiquans have access to clean water. The Moamba Major project would also allow Mozambique, which currently relies on Cahora Bassa in northern Tete province, to meet growing domestic and regional power demands.
