The Moabsvelden project is located in the western portion of the Witbank coal field which historically is the most important coal field in South Africa and has been the source of more than half of all coal that has been produced in South Africa. The project is situated 13kms east of the town of Delmas, in Mpumalanga province. A number of existing collieries surround the project site which is accessible directly off a sealed road, whilst a main national road passes 4km to the south and a railway line passes 2km to the west. The project has a Joint Ore Reserves Committee compliant resource of 66 million tonnes and a reserve 43.8 tonnes. Upfront capital costs are estimated at R266 million.
