Preparation of Mittal plants to meet the new emission standards. Est R745 million. The funds will largely be focused on Mittal’s (Iscor) Vanderbijlpark mill where three major projects will account for some R745 million of the company’s environmental spend. These projects are: The building of a new water treatment plant to achieve zero effluent discharge of process water (R238 million); Cleaning of the coke oven gas and water system, resulting in improved emission levels and reduction in water usage and discharge (334 million); and Replacement of redundant equipment and implementing new gas cleaning technology for the sinter plant off-gas system (R156 million).
