About this development
Construction of two new 325 000-t/y direct-reduced iron (DRI) kilns at Mittal's Vanderbijlpark plant, in Gauteng. This will increase its liquid steel capacity by approximately 250 000 tonnes per year. Upon completion it will increase the number of kilns at Vanderbijlpark from four to six. Est R600 million. The DRI 5 & 6 kilns consists of five components: Material Handling, Kiln and Cooler Proper (2 off), 66 Bar Waist Heat Boilers (2 off), Electrostatic Precipitators (2 off) and Power Plant (Turbo Alternator Set).
