About this development
The Mbila project is located in Kwa-Zulu-Natal and is strategically situated about 105km north-west of the Richards Bay Coal Terminal. Other infrastructure required for the development and operation of a new anthracite coal mine, including processing plants and rail, is also in close proximity. The project consists of a mining right covering 19 120 ha and a prospecting right covering 53 000ha. A total of 564 holes have been drilled within the project and have been used to define a Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource of 89 million tons of high quality anthracite. The IFS pegs the capital expenditure on an owner-operated mine to production at A$85-million, including a contingency of A$10.8-million.
