About this development
The Mbalam-Nabeba Iron Ore Project is situated in the Republic of Cameroon in central west Africa. Mining will be conducted in stages from two high-grade hematite desposits, primarily Mbarga and Nabeda. Stage 1 will comprise a mine; a crushing and screening plant, a mine stockyard and train loading facility. The Stage 2 development is proposed to start before the completion of Stage 1 to ensure no disruption to mining operations. The project is based on phase one initial production of 35 million tons a year. The construction of Stage 2 is expected to be funded from the cash generated from Stage 1. A capital expenditure of $4.6 billion will be required to start up the DSO operation.
