About this development
The proposed new power station will be a combined cycle power station. These types of plants are much more efficient that conventional power stations. The new power station will be built on a site where SONEFE once stood, this is a coal and oil fired power station that was a vital back up source of electricity for Maputo during the war of destablisation. SONEFE was decommissioned shortly after the end of the war. The combined cycle power plant will generate 100 megawatts of power. Estimated project value :US$180 million
