The Malilongue heavy rare earths project is located in western Mozambique about 300km west of the regional mining centre of Tete and comprises of two tenements, Mining Concession 1133C and Prospecting License 1583L. Access to the project is good via both sealed highway and major arterial dirt roads. Rare earths are a group of 17 metals, described as “light” or “heavy” depending on their position in the periodic table of elements. They have a number of high technology applications, in, for example, aerospace components, lasers, superconductors and magnets.
