It is proposed that the road be upgraded from gravel to a surfaced (tarred) road, including the upgrade of the geometric standard to 80km/h, class 3 section. The Main Road 281 is a gravel road situated south of the Theewaterskloof dam in the Villiersdorp area. MR281 starts at the intersection of TR30/1 (R43 between Villiersdorp and N2), traverses in a north-westerly direction and ends at the intersection with MR 279 (R321) between Villiersdorp and (Grabouw.)
