About this development
The Lubambe open pit copper mine will have a design throughput of 2,5 million tons a year to yield 45 000 t/y of contained copper concentrate. The expected mine life is 28 years, including a three year exploration programme. mine is designed for a peak production of 2.5m/t of ore and 0.6m/t of waste rock per annum. The mine is situated near Chililabombwe, about 450 kilometres from the Zambian capital, Lusaka. Estimated project value : $380 million
