The Lillian Ngoyi Square, formerly Strijdom Square, is set for a R20-million facelift. The transformation the square is about to undergo will include the removal of the galloping horses and water feature. They are to be replaced by a performing platform and a new water feature boasting three fountains. The state Theatre side of the square is to be transformed into an African foods restaurant featuring a park and facilities where patrons can enjoy their food. The church and Van der Walt streets sides will cater for the African market and informal traders.
