About this development
The Ethiopian Railway Corporation is planning the development of a light railway system for Addis Ababa. The system will have 39 stations and at ten of these, new buildings comprising shopping centres, hotels, offices and clinics will be built. The Ethiopian Railway Corporation began construction of the 34.25 km double track electrified light rail transit project in January 2012 after securing funds from the Export-Import Bank of China. There will be a two initial lines. It is projected that the project will take three years to complete. Project Value : US$ 4.8 million.
