Construction of the Kithinu (Kithino) multipurpose dam located on Kithinu River in Tharaka-Nithi County of central Kenya. The proposed project consists of a dam, a water treatment plant for domestic water, bulk transmission pipelines for domestic water and infrastructure for irrigation water. A possibility exists for incorporation of a mini hydro electricity plant. The area to be acquired for the construction of the proposed dam and related ancillary structures is estimated 875 hectares.
