About this development
The Kipushi Project is a past-producing, high-grade underground zinc-copper mine in the Central African Copperbelt, in Katanga Province, DRC, 30 km to the WSW of Lumbumbashi and immediately adjacent to the border with Zambia. The main ore which is rich in Cu and Zn, with grades of around 20 to 50% contained metal. This occurs on both sides of the Kipushi Fault, with a horizontal length varying from 200 to 500. The zone may be up to 40 to 60m wide in the Kakontwe Formation. Preproduction capital costs have been estimated at $337 million. GPS Coordinates: -11.7697, 27.2370
