About this development
Construction of a R16 million multi-media complex at the site of the museum at uMgungundlovu, King Dingane’s 19th century homestead between Melmoth and Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal. The museum will be demolished and the complex built on the existing footprint. The complex is to be a place of reconciliation and to showcase four centuries of Zulu history. The oval-shaped royal homestead which once housed 1 500 grass-covered dwellings, a parade ground and accommodation for selected regiments, is to be upgraded by a palisade of indigenous aloes and other improvements.
