About this development
The Kibali project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) could potentially be one of the world's largest gold mines. The Kibali operation will comprise an integrated undergound and openpit mine, a twin-circuit sulphide and oxide plant and four self-construction hydropower stations. The project is being constructed in two overlapping phases. Phase 1 covers the metallurgical plant, the first phase of the tailing storage facility, the first of the hydropower plants, all shared infrastructure and the completion of the resettlement programme. Phase 2 will include the development of an underground mine. Estimated project value : $1.66 billion.
