Assmang Limited is considering a second-phase expansion to 16-million tons, at an open-cast iron mining operation on Bruce 544, King 561 and Mokaning 560 farms, approximately 15 km south of Kathu, 35 km north-east of Olifantshoek and 80 km north of Postmasburg in the Northern Cape Province. Now known as Khumani Iron Ore Mine.
