About this development
Development of the Khi Solar One project, on a 6km² site close to Upington, in the Northern Cape. The Khi Solar One will generate a total of 50 MW and will represent important technological advances in efficiency. It is the latest generation of solar technology using superheated steam. The plant will also use the technologically advanced dry cooling, which dramatically reduces water consumption by 80%. The tower plant will be located on a 6km² site close to Upington. The plant will have two hours of thermal storage and will prevent about 183 000 t/y of carbon dioxide emissions.
