About this development
Raising of the Kempsdale Dam wall and upgrading of the pump station on Portions 10 of Farm Bad Fontein No. 241 and Zon-Fontein No 257, the dam is located upstream of Kokstad Town within the Greater Kokstad Local Municipality, Harry Gwala District, Kwazulu-Natal. The project value is R160 306 471.25. Scope of works includes civil, structural, mechanical and electrical works. The height of the existing dam wall will be increased from 4m to 8m and the dam will have a total surface area of approximately 42ha, an increase of 29ha. The dam capacity will increase from 215 055m³ to 2 140 000m³ of water. The dam will primarily be used to supply water to Kokstad Town.
