About this development
Impala Platinum is planning to develop additional surface infrastructure at the existing Shaft 20. The proposed surface infrastructure changes include the establishment of up to 7 additional ventilation shafts (one of which will also include a refrigeration plant room, condenser tower and bulk air cooler); the expansion of the existing pollution control dam and a possible reshaping of the existing waster rock dump. The proposed location of the dam and rock dump will be situated at the existing Shaft 20 complex within Rustenburg's mining operations on the farm Goedgedacht 114 JQ. The alternative positions under consideration for the proposed ventilation shafts will fall on the farms Geodgedacht 114 JQ and Boschkoppie 104JQ.
