Holcim South Africa - Roodepoort

Expansion of the Roodepoort clinker grinding and cement blending plant for Holcim South Africa. The proposed expansion project will incorporate four components - the materials-handling system for storage, extraction and transfer of clinker to the new mill; an energy-efficient new Loesche vertical roller mill, which is intended to replace the three old mills which grind clinker to cement; the cement silo for the storage of the milled clinker; and a second blending plant to convert pure cement into a number of different cement blends. The biggest challenge will be to build a new factory in an existing operation. The estimated value of the project is in excess of R500 million.
