About this development
Construction of various works at the Weza Dam located in Weza, near Harding in the Ugu District Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal. The scope of works will consist of a weir across the Weza River and abstraction structure; a transfer rock tunnel and pipe culvert (1 km long), from the abstraction to the dam; a 27.5m high clay core; earthfill embankment (377m long); a 23m high intake tower with a 53m long access bridge, and outlet control house; a morning glory spillway (10m diameter), with 5m diameter shaft outlet / river diversion conduit beneath the embankment and stilling basin at the exit; a DN700 steel pipeline (1.5km long) from the dam to the water treatment works; access roads with stormwater control; fencing; duplication of the culvert under P61, including traffic control and deviation during construction; hand operated control valves and penstocks; solar powered lighting and level monitoring and telemetry; and such other work as may be deemed necessary by the engineer for the completion of the project.
