About this development
Construction of the Grootvallei Solar Photovoltaic Energy Facility on Portion 5 (Portion of Portion 1), Portion 6 (A Portion of Portion 1), Portion 33 (Portion of Portion 4) of the Farm Grootvallei Number 258 JS, approximately 20km north-west from eMalahleni in Mpumalanga. The solar PV facility will comprise of PV modules and mounting structures, inverters and transformers, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), IPP (facility) substation and Eskom switching station, site and internal access roads (between 6 and 10m wide), internal cabling to link the facility, operation and maintenance buildings including a gate house, ablution facilities, security building, control centre, offices, warehouses and workshops for storage and maintenance and temporary and permanent laydown area and will have a contracted capacity of up to 220MW and will cover approximately 500ha. The GPS has been estimated at Farm Grootvallei 25°43'44.1"S 29°06'22.1"E
