About this development
Construction of a gas-fired power plant at the Vanderbijlpark Mittal Steel South Africa steel plant, in Gauteng. The gas-fired power plant will use the waste gas that is produced during the steel-making process at the plant to generate electricity. The waste gas that the plant produces is currently flared. Mittal is studying the proposal to capture the energy and convert it into electricity in a 180MW gas-turbine power station. Value : R1,2 billion.
