Construction of a new dam and associated infrastructure on the Remainder of Portion 11 of the farm Amsterdam 408 IT, approximately 2.5km north east of Amsterdam, Mpumalanga. Estimated value of R416 746 816.96 This project forms part of the Amsterdam Regional Bulk Water Supply Scheme for the Gert Sibande District Municipality and is funded by the Regional Bulk Infrastructure Grant Programme under the auspices of the Department of Water and Sanitation. The Gabosch Dam, a mass concrete or roller compacted concrete (RCC) gravity structure with a central spillway, will have a vertical wall height of 25.4m, a width of 70m and a total length from the right to left flank of ±230m. The dam will be able to store 1.17 million m³ with a water surface area at full supply level of 20.38ha. An administration building will also be provided and will comprise of offices, a laboratory, ablution facilities and a paved parking area. In order to access the dam site, a gravel road with 3 low level river crossings will be constructed along an existing dirt track from the R65 provincial road to the dam wall.
