About this development
Construction of an artificial Flamingo breeding island in the Kamfers Dam near Kimberley, Northern Cape. The Island will be about 200m from the shoreline, and will be 150m long and 25m wide. The island body will be constructed using calcrete with a surface layer of clay soil. Football-sized stones will be packed along the outer edge of the island to minimise wave action erosion. A temporary causeway will be constructed, but will be removed after completion of the construction of the island. R500 000
