About this development
Upgrade of the infrastructure at the existing Alton Macerator Plant, Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The proposed site is located at the existing Alton Macerator Plant South of the John Ross Highway (R34). The proposed development will entail the following: Extension of the storage capacity of the emergency effluent storage dam from 5 000m³ to 10 000m³ to allow for maintenance of the sea outfall pipeline or macerator plant; Replacement of two fine screens and installation of a third fine screen; Construction of valve chambers to house alterations to pipe work; New 250mm diameter rising main from the sea outfall pumps; New 400mm diameter gravity main; Alterations to the 160mm drain to the sea outfall pump station; and alterations to site fencing.
