Samancor Chrome Ltd proposes to expand their existing operations through the establishment of an opencast mine and the reworking of the existing tailings dams at Samancor's Western Chrome Mines: Elandsdrift Mine situated within the Mooinooi area of the North West Province. Located on Portions 63, 64, 65, 111 and 140 of the farm Elandsdrift 467 JQ. Samancor Chrome's current ferrochrome is some 1.2 million tons and the planned expansion will more than double this.
