About this development
Assmang, which is owned jointly by Assore and African Rainbow Minerals, would proceed with a feasibility study into expanding the Khumani mine. This second phase of the project entails the expansion of the mine from its current capacity of 10 million tons a year to 16 million tons a year. The expansion will include the development of a new mining area. To service the new mining area, the primary and secondary crushers will be duplicated, while an overland conveyor will be constructed. The estimated total capital costs for the expansion is R6.7 billion.
