Project overview
About this development
IFM planned to boost its plant capacity from 267 000t/y to 665 0000t/y of ferrochrome at its ferrochrome operation in Rustenburg, North West Province. This included R2,3-billion for new furnaces and R950-million for new pelletising and sintering plants. However, it was still awaiting final confirmation of power supply, and if this was not forthcoming by the end of June, IFM would then undertake the expansion in two stages, beginning with the mining side. Estimated project cost: R4.15 billion.
