Expansion at ArcelorMittal South Africa

Expansion of the iron making, steel making and rolling facilities at ArcelorMittal South Africa, Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal. The proposed Capacity Expansion consists of a combination of new plants and/or associated infrastructure, upgrading of some existing operations and infrastructure, as well as using excess production capacity in a number of other facilities. The following are the main new and upgraded components of the proposed Capacity Expansion: An increase in sinter plant capacity; Construction of a new blast furnace to increase production; New facilities at the steel plant, including a new billet caster; New facilities at the rolling plants, including a new bar/rod mill. Value: R10 billion.
