The Elandsfontein phosphate deposit is the second largest phosphate deposit in South Africa is located near Hopefield, on the West Coast of South Africa. The phosphate mineralisation is contained in the Varswater formation, with the phosphate occurring in the phosphatised shell fragments and phosphorite pellets.
