About this development
African Eagle has discovered a significant nickel laterite deposit within the Dutwa project area, which lies in the Kilimafedha belt (Swahili for "money hills") of the Lake Victoria Goldfield in Tanzania. Operationally, the project is favourably situated, 100km east of the railhead at Mwanza and close to the main Mwanza-Nairobi trunk road, a major power line and the shore of Lake Victoria. The capital cost of the project is estimated at $600 million, if a two-million-ton-a-year tank leach plant is considered. Alternatively a heap-leaching plant will cost an estimated $550 million to develop.
