About this development
Widening and deepening of Durban Harbour. Demolition of existing north breakwater; demolition of buildings and structures along the present North bank; construction of a new breakwater; construction of a new rock-faced north bank; Dredging of a deeper and wider channel; additional protection on south breakwater; new entrance channel leading lights and navigational aids. The entrance channel would be widened to 225m from 110m and deepened to 19m from 12m. Project value: R3.9 billion.
